JOB SUMMARY:
The Accounting Director will lead all accounting operations across the United States and Canada, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with both U.S. and Canadian regulatory frameworks. This role is critical in supporting VinFast business in North America while serving as a primary financial advisor to the CEO.
RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY ACTIVITIES:
1. Financial Reporting & Close (U.S. & Canada)
- Work closely with HQ team and lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across U.S. and Canadian entities
- Ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS/Canadian standards
- Oversee intercompany transactions, eliminations, and multi-entity consolidations
- Manage FX accounting and cross-border financial reporting considerations
2. Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
- Manage inventory accounting (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) across jurisdictions
- Partner with plant operations in both countries on cost control and efficiency initiatives
3. Tax & Regulatory Compliance (Cross-Border)
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and Canadian tax and statutory requirements, including corporate tax, sales tax and GST/HST/PST/QST
- Oversee transfer pricing policies and documentation
- Coordinate with external tax advisors in both countries
4. Internal Controls & Audit
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls and audit readiness (SOX, if applicable).
- Work with HQ team and serve as the main point of contact in the US and CA for external auditors and manage the end-to-end audit process.
5. ERP & Systems Leadership
- Lead ERP optimization across U.S. and Canadian entities and drive automation and process standardization across regions
- Ensure alignment of accounting policies, chart of accounts, and reporting structures
6. Strategic Business Partnering
- Partner with FP&A, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams across both countries
- Support transfer pricing and cross-border reporting requirements
7. Team Leadership
- Lead and develop accounting teams of VinFast North America
- Build scalable processes to support growth across multiple locations
- Other tasked as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Finance-Accounting or related fields (Active CPA required; U.S. CPA or Canadian CPA strongly preferred; dual exposure a plus)
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience with minimum 5 years of business management experience as Head of Finance/Accounting Department.
- Financial reporting: Proficiency in preparing and analyzing financial statements like income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Accounting Standards: Deep knowledge of accounting principles, standards (USGAA and/or IFRS), laws, and regulations, and multi-entity consolidations
- Tax Preparation and Compliance: Experience with Tax systems and reporting systems in North America, including FX and intercompany, to prepare/review tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (particularly SAP S4 Hana....) is a plus, while remaining detail-oriented with a strategic mindset.
- Hands-on experience with Financial Modeling (reviewing financial models to forecast future performance and support decision making).
- Having experience working in automobile/EV manufacturers and/or trading companies (Distributors, Manufacturers) is a significant asset.
- Having experience in diplomacy with suppliers and distributors is a plus.
- Previous working experience in auditing field and/or SOX implementation is a plus.
- Being adaptive to business and organizational changes
- Vietnamese language proficiency is strongly preferred
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and organizational skills
- Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities
- Ability to lead and work effectively in a collaborative, high-pressure team environment.
- Understanding VinFast’s culture and approach is a plus.

Salary : $170,000 - $185,000
