Professional Tutor

Role Summary:

The Professional Tutor is a 12-month, part-time position dedicated to fostering student success within the Experience VU program. The Professional Tutor serves as a learning specialist and mentor, helping students with varied learning styles build sustainable habits, overcome educational hurdles, and confidently navigate their path toward toward good academic standing, persistence, graduation and/or transfer.

Responsibilities:

• Provides mentoring and encourages independent behavior

• Maintains accurate records

• Establishes a professional environment for open interaction and reflection

Qualifications:

• Experience working with students with disabilities or first generation students

• Strong skill sets in study skills, executive function strategies, life skills coaching, soft skills and career exploration
