Role Summary:
The Professional Tutor is a 12-month, part-time position dedicated to fostering student success within the Experience VU program. The Professional Tutor serves as a learning specialist and mentor, helping students with varied learning styles build sustainable habits, overcome educational hurdles, and confidently navigate their path toward toward good academic standing, persistence, graduation and/or transfer.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates competency in tutoring subjects, study skills, and executive function strategies
- Provides mentoring and encourages independent behavior
- Maintains accurate records
- Establishes a professional environment for open interaction and reflection
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, math, science, social work, or specialized training
- Experience working with students with disabilities or first generation students
- Strong skill sets in study skills, executive function strategies, life skills coaching, soft skills and career exploration
