Village Travel is seeking a Dispatcher for our location in Little Rock, Arkansas. This is a full-time position responsible for dispatching motorcoaches and drivers and must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment. This is generally a 1st shift position Monday - Friday.
We are a diversified family-owned company operating over 200 charter motor coaches and plans unique travel packages marketed to more than 27,000 households. We offer traditional travel agency services, a fleet of Entertainer Coaches, and operate a daily Beeline service. In 2020, we added Village Transport offering a fleet of tractor/trailers. The company has expanded its regional footprint into one of the largest full-service charter and tour operations in the Midwest with offices in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Missouri. Our mission is to provide clients with a fun, worry-free travel experience through exceptional standards in safety, customer service, and equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assign drivers in accordance with company expectations, policies and procedures adhering to hours of service regulations.
Dispatch approximately 40 motor coaches and drivers.
Provide drivers with complete and accurate trip information per company expectations.
Exhibit a sense of urgency and effectively assign drivers to trips at least four days in advance.
Possess operational understanding of Coach Manager and how it pertains to dispatch.
Make well thought out decisions when problems arise.
Maintain composure in stressful environments.
Be able to take calls all through work schedule.
Develop good working relationships with other departments within the company.
Retain knowledge and understanding of companywide fleet.
Maintain excellent communication and working relationships with drivers.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
Analytical thinking skills to access situations.
Proficient in computer technology, Microsoft Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous dispatch experience preferred.
Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations preferred as well as having a CDL.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, bend and sit. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds.
