About the Role:
The Human Resources Manager plays a key role in supporting our operations by ensuring compliance, strengthening employee relations, and partnering with leaders to build engaged, high-performing teams. This role serves as a trusted advisor to our Operations Team and Support Staff while helping drive a positive, inclusive workplace culture across an assigned geography.
About the Gourmet Garage Central Kitchen:
The Village Super Market Gourmet Garage Central Kitchen (“GGCK”) which is located in the Bronx, NY is a centralized commissary that produces fresh product in the prepared foods, meals to go and other perishable categories that provide Village the ability to expand and control centralized food production. The GGCK drives production efficiencies, as well as ensuring high product quality and consistency, throughout Village Super Market’s 38 retail stores, as well as a growing number of other wholesale customers.
The GGCK is typically closed on Sundays and Wednesday. The HR Manager schedule will reflect these days off, though shifts may vary based on business needs.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with Operations Teams on daily HR needs
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Manage employee relations, investigations, and performance issues
- Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding for all employees
- Drive talent development, engagement, and succession planning
- Conduct store walks and deliver HR training as needed
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree 3 years HR generalist experience
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR fundamentals
- Experience handling employee relations in a union environment
- Excellent communication, judgment, and confidentiality skills
- Proficiency performance management
- Experience with onboarding, compliance, and cultivating a positive workplace culture
- Knowledge of organizational development and training programs
- Ability to work on-site in New York, NY with occasional travel to other locations
- SHRM certification
- Bilingual skills a plus
