What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Works Seasonal Crewperson position at Village of Grafton?
The Public Works Seasonal Crewperson performs a variety of unskilled to skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of Village streets, buildings, trees, equipment, and storm drainage facilities and systems.This position will receive daily assignments and instructions from Crewperson, Public Works Foreman, Public Works Superintendent, Director of Public Works, or Director of Parks and Recreation that include but are not limited to:
- Mulching and weed spraying trees on the boulevards and buildings
- Maintaining flower beds in the right-of-ways buildings and on boulevards
- Cleaning and repairing catch basins
- Weekly brush chipping
- Street repair and maintenance, including placement of asphalt
- Planting, trimming, and removal of street trees
- Building repairs and grounds maintenance for all Village facilities
- Assist residents with dumpster use
- Pressure washing and sealing stamped concrete
- Abandon lot grass cutting
- Painting light poles and bridge railings
Tools and Equipment Used
3 yard dump truck, chipper truck with chipper on back, asphalt roller, asphalt compactor, pickup trucks and trailers, backhoe, skid loader, string trimmers, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and pressure washerEducation and Experience
- Must be at least 17 years of age
- Must have or be able to obtain prior to hire, a valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license

- Some knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
