PRN Home Health Speech Therapist (SLP) - Northern Virginia

VIGEO Home Health is hiring Virginia-licensed Speech-Language Pathologists for PRN W-2 home health visits across Northern Virginia.

Earn $80-$150 per completed, authorized visit, depending on visit type, with mileage reimbursement and one-on-one patient care in the home.

Share your PRN availability and realistic coverage area. Assignments depend on patient census, physician orders, clinical fit, agency needs, and your confirmed availability. Coverage expectations are reviewed before hire; visit volume is not guaranteed.

Service Area

SLP priority areas include Arlington, Falls Church, and McLean. Nearby Fairfax and Loudoun assignments may be available based on patient needs, clinician availability, clinical fit, and agency needs.

VIGEO reviews ZIP codes, travel expectations, and the primary coverage area before assignments. Visits are grouped geographically whenever possible. Coverage outside the confirmed area is reviewed before assignment and depends on your acceptance and agency needs.

Compensation Structure

This is a PRN W-2 role paid at $80-$150 per completed, authorized visit, depending on visit type. It is not an hourly wage or guaranteed salary. The exact rate for each visit type is reviewed before hire.

Rates vary by visit type and apply only to completed, authorized visits. Mileage reimbursement and paid required onboarding, training, competency, and administrative work are handled under VIGEO policy.

Onboarding And Training

VIGEO provides a structured two-month onboarding pathway with paid required orientation, EMR training, documentation review, competency validation, and clinical support. The pathway may be adjusted based on prior home health experience, documented competency, and agency requirements.

Independent complex or OASIS-related assignments require successful orientation, documentation review, competency validation, and written clearance from clinical leadership. Shadow visits, supervised visits, or an extended preceptorship may be required. Timing and assignment ramp depend on credentialing, availability, clinical readiness, patient safety, and agency needs.

What You Will Do

• Complete speech therapy evaluations, re-evaluations or reassessments, recertification and resumption visits, and discharge planning as ordered
• Provide skilled interventions focused on dysphagia, swallowing safety, communication, cognition, and speech and language function
• Develop and update individualized plans of care based on patient needs, physician orders, and progress
• Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, swallowing precautions, communication strategies, and carryover
• Coordinate patient progress, safety concerns, and changes with physicians and the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in care coordination and discharge planning to support safe transitions and continuity of care
• Complete timely, accurate documentation in WellSky/Kinnser; participate in chart review, quality, and competency activities; and, when assigned by clinical leadership, support orientation and precepting of newly onboarding licensed SLPs through shadow visits, workflow and documentation coaching, and feedback
• Use VIGEO secure systems and follow agency, payer, privacy, and professional standards

Requirements

• Current full and unrestricted Virginia Speech-Language Pathologist license in good standing; provisional-license and Clinical Fellowship candidates are not eligible for this position
• Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
• Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
• Ability to travel to patient homes within the confirmed Northern Virginia service area
• Ability to complete required onboarding, training, documentation, and competency activities and communicate promptly about availability, accepted assignments, and patient-care updates

Strongly Preferred

• Home health or Medicare-certified home health experience
• Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, outpatient, acute-care, or geriatric experience
• WellSky/Kinnser or comparable home health EMR experience
• Experience with dysphagia, cognition, communication, speech and language treatment, or geriatric care
