DOUBLE KWIK CORE VALUES
These are the behaviors that determine who gets hired, who gets promoted, and who gets to stay.
Do they sound like you?
1. We Become What We Think About
We take responsibility instead of blaming. We come prepared with solutions, not just problems. We speak positively about the team, customers, and company, and we set personal goals and follow through.
Mindset: I own my attitude, my effort, and my results.
2. We Serve Others First
We greet every customer with warmth and attention. We anticipate needs—clean stores, stocked shelves, fresh food. We help teammates without being asked, and we treat the community like family.
Mindset: Service is the reason we exist.
3. We Do the Work—Every Day
We show up on time, ready, and focused. We follow through on commitments. We maintain standards even when no one is watching, and we embrace routine, discipline, and accountability.
Mindset: Consistency beats intensity.
4. We Do What's Right—Always
We tell the truth—even when it's hard. We handle money, product, and time with honesty. We treat everyone with fairness and respect. No lying, no stealing, no drugs.
Mindset: My integrity is who I am when no one is watching.
5. We Take Pride in Everything We Do
We keep our stores clean, organized, and customer-ready. We make sure food is fresh, high-quality, and never compromised. We hold a high standard in appearance and execution, and we fix issues immediately instead of walking past them.
Mindset: Details matter because people matter.
6. We Grow People Into Leaders
We coach, teach, and give constructive feedback. We prepare others for the next level of responsibility. We share knowledge and best practices. We hold people accountable while supporting their growth.
Mindset: My job is to develop others, not just manage tasks.
7. We Honor the Past and Build the Future
We speak with pride about our company's legacy. We protect what made us great—values, quality, service. We embrace systems, structure, and innovation for growth, and we think long-term, not just day-to-day.
Mindset: We respect where we came from and take responsibility for where we're going.
8. We Rush without Being in a Hurry
We work efficiently without chaos or panic. We stay calm under pressure. We prioritize what matters most, and we make thoughtful, timely decisions.
Mindset: I move with urgency and control.
Do you light up when you watch someone grow into a leader?
We're hiring a Workforce Development Director to help Double Kwik become one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky. You'll rebuild our Manager-in-Training program, launch our internship pipeline, and develop the leaders who will run our next 50 stores.
This is not about filling positions. This is about building people. If that idea makes your heart beat a little faster, this might be the seat for you.
DOUBLE KWIK — Clean. Fresh. Right. Every Time.
We're Double Kwik. We're a family-led, Eastern-Kentucky-grown company with 42 stores (and growing toward 50), and we exist to serve our communities with pride—through clean stores, exceptional homemade food, and a welcoming experience that feels like family.
We're also more than a convenience store. We're an ecosystem that includes Childers Oil, our restaurant group, and Raven Rock. Together, we fuel communities, feed people, develop leaders, and build a generational legacy.
We're on a mission to become one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky. So if you want more than a paycheck—if you want a career, a team that has your back, and a company where your work actually matters—you're going to like it here.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll own the training, development, and leadership pipeline strategy across the entire Double Kwik ecosystem—Double Kwik stores, Childers Oil, our restaurant group, and beyond.
You'll rebuild and run the Manager-in-Training (MIT) program. You'll stand up onboarding and curriculum (Retail 101, Deli 101, Food Service 101, Leader 101). You'll launch a renowned internship program for the retail and hospitality industries. And you'll partner with our C-Suite to document a Procedures Manual for every department.
Most importantly, you'll make sure that the people who walk through our doors find more than a job here. They find a career.
Excited yet? Here's what we'll need from you.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE)
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- 5 years leading learning & development, training, or workforce development (convenience store, grocery, retail, hospitality, or foodservice experience strongly preferred)
- Experience designing and rolling out manager-in-training, leadership development, or career-pathing programs at scale
- Experience building internship programs and partnerships with high schools, community colleges, and universities a plus
- Familiarity with EOS / Traction operating systems is a plus
THE KIND OF PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- You're a servant leader—you develop people first, tasks second
- You design and facilitate great training (in person and virtual)
- You write the kind of SOPs, curricula, and playbooks that frontline teams actually use
- You can run multiple programs at once without dropping balls
- You're comfortable with technology—Microsoft Office, learning systems, video, even AI tools that simplify how we work
- You're data-driven—you let scorecards, mystery shops, and audits guide your next move
- You partner well with Operations, HR, Food Service, Recruiting, and Marketing
- You bring high integrity, high energy, and high accountability—every day
- You think like an owner (a fiduciary mindset—you make decisions like the business is yours)
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Based in Whitesburg, KY with regular travel to stores, fuel sites, restaurants, and school/community partners across Eastern Kentucky
- Comfortable working in retail, foodservice, and warehouse environments while you observe, coach, and train
- Must be able to talk, hear, stand, sit, and type/keyboard or enter data using a computer and monitor up to 8 hours per day
- Plan, conduct, and attend meetings in person or via teleconference software
- Able to stand for extended periods during in-store training and class facilitation
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own and drive our leadership development strategy across every entity
- Rebuild, launch, and run the Manager-in-Training (MIT) program
- Stand up and maintain Retail 101, Deli 101, Food Service 101, and Leader101 curriculum
- Lead the rollout of the Double Kwik Core Values so they show up in hiring, onboarding, coaching, and promotion
- Build a renowned internship program for retail and hospitality industries
- Partner with the C-Suite to document and maintain a Procedures Manual for every department
- Lead Regional Director training, succession planning, and continuity planning
- Build and maintain a clear accountability chart and job descriptions for every role
- Drive the "Best Place to Work" program and our Best Places to Work Kentucky application
- Partner with Recruiting on career fair strategy, employer branding, and pipeline
- Use scorecards, mystery shops, audits, and field observation to keep raising the bar
- Champion AI as a training and adoption accelerator—simplify how the field works
- Any other assigned task by management
IS THIS YOU?
Before you apply, ask yourself:
- Do I get more energy out of developing people than I do out of solo work?
- Have I built training programs from scratch—and can I prove they actually changed behavior?
- Am I comfortable coaching frontline team members in a store AND coaching senior leaders in the C-Suite?
- Do I lead with integrity, even when it's the harder choice?
- Am I ready to help build a multi-generational legacy in Eastern Kentucky?
If you're nodding your head right now, we want to talk to you.
