Weekend Plant Management Supervisor
Position scope/summary:
The Weekend Plant Supervisor provides front line leadership and direction, supervision, operations performance measurement, problem solving direction and attention to assigned production areas within the facility. In addition, the supervisor mentors and supports Team Leads and Operators regarding development of a lean environment including visual factory on each of the respective production lines.

The associate must successfully complete the general RCRA Awareness training through the onboarding training process upon their start at Viant followed by an annual refresher. If the associate changes their position or begins to handle larger quantities of chemical waste (Above 20 gals) at a time, additional training will be required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Act as the business owner for specific departments (with a minimum of 25 team members) across all shifts.
- Adjust operator according to scheduled requirements, training needs and limitations, and established crewing models for desired tact times. Incumbent will make decisions regarding team member flexibility and reallocation in such a way that minimizes overtime and maximizes utilization of team members.
- Build, lead, develop and motivate product teams. Create the culture of ownership within and across product teams that delivers optimized performance across all shifts.
- Identify, understand, report, and improve manufacturing variances.
- Know each customer and interface with Customer Solutions and key customers regarding delivery commitments and processing capabilities. Attend customer meetings at the facility.
- Lead daily performance reviews with the Team Leads and Operators. Manages performance boards along with Team Leads. Drive actions with Team Leads according to metrics posted.
- Work daily as team member with Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, and Maintenance, to improve performance, address issues, and solve root cause problems.
- Ensure Team Leads understand and meet facility related goals for Quality, Cost and Delivery, the Viant Focus Document and their own team objectives, Interpret goals to provide meaningful daily direction to Teams.
- Drive process change resulting in efficiency improvements of >5% using lean manufacturing and six sigma techniques.
- Develop and own Team based training matrices. Oversee training of new Team Leaders and operators. Ensure training records of team members are current and correct. Ensure each team has a current training matrix posted at all times.
- Protect assigned teams from interruption for any reason and maximize team focus on building quality product; recommend improvements to the production process, equipment uptime and product quality. Closely monitor and reduce amount of indirect activities performed by Teams through active engagement with support team (engineering, supply chain, quality, finance, maintenance)
- Lead compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Documentation Practices through demonstration of compliance and clear communication to Team Leads and Operators .
- Oversee all production personnel directly and through Team Lead input. Oversee all personnel actions – hiring, disciplinary measures, promotions, wage increases, transfers and timely performance appraisals.
- Follow and adhere to standard work.
- Support and Participate in the lean manufacturing cultural change to drive out waste in manufacturing processes.
- Support and Participate in Continuous Improvement activities.
- Support and Participate in activities that increase the ratio of value added to non-value added processes.
- Manage all time off requests for assigned lines; assure production needs are met while honoring approved time off requests.
- Manage time clock punches ensuring all labor is accurately recorded and reported and complete timecard corrections required by payroll in a timely fashion.
- Manage daily expectations of Standard Work as outlined by Operations Management.
- Other duties as required.

In addition, the employee will be required to work in a facility with varying temperatures in varying work areas, sometimes below 60 degrees or above 100 degrees.
- Management or technical degree is desirable. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for a candidate who can demonstrate the combination of experience, training and education to be capable of successfully fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to problem solve and understand problem solving methodologies.
- Understanding of and demonstrated use of Six Sigma (problem solving and variation elimination) and Lean Principles (waste elimination).
- Ability to utilize computer software such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project, and to effectively provide guidance to others in the use of such software.
