Overview
We are seeking a local, long-term, and highly reliable Jig Grinder Technician to join our precision machining and toolroom team in Michigan.
This position focuses on ultra-precision grinding work using jig grinders, coordinate grinders, and internal (ID) grinding equipment, supporting single-piece components, gage parts, and calibration tooling.
- Important:
Our machines operate at tight tolerances. Candidates without hands-on grinding experience should not apply, as improper operation can result in irreversible accuracy damage to high-precision equipment.
Position Details
- Location: Michigan (On-site)
- Position Type: Full-Time / Long-Term
- Pay Rate: $28 – $35 per hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities
- Independently set up and operate Jig Grinders, Coordinate Grinders, and/or Internal (ID) Grinding machines to perform ultra-precision grinding
- Perform high-accuracy grinding on single-piece components, gage parts, calibration tooling, and precision features
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and tight-tolerance specifications to determine grinding processes
- Inspect dimensions, surface finish, and geometric tolerances using micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools
- Maintain and protect machine accuracy, including proper warm-up, setup, and routine accuracy checks
- Troubleshoot grinding issues and make precise adjustments to ensure dimensional integrity
- Follow all safety procedures, toolroom standards, and quality requirements
- Work closely with engineering and machining teams to meet project and customer requirements
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Michigan local resident or able to reliably work on-site long-term
- Required grinding experience (one of the following):
- 2 years of Jig Grinder or Coordinate Grinder experience, OR
- 3 years of Internal (ID) Grinding or Precision Surface Grinding experience

- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, indicators, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.)
- Careful, detail-oriented work habits suitable for high-precision toolroom environments
- Stable work history, strong sense of responsibility, and willingness to grow long-term with the company
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when required
