The Mechanical Engineering Design Technician will leverage mathematical and mechanical expertise alongside strong analytical and critical thinking skills to design, develop, and refine mechanical components and systems. The role involves interpreting technical documents, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and providing technical support to customers and internal stakeholders. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects effectively.
Job Responsibilities:
- Read, create, and interpret blueprints, component specifications, bills of materials, technical drawings, and schematics
- Design new products and accessories as well as redesign existing products to improve functionality and efficiency
- Draft and finalize drawings, marketing materials, technical documents, and owner’s manuals
- Provide customer support, including creating customer-specific quotes, designs/drawings, and facilitating all engineering aspects of specific orders
- Offer engineering technical support by discussing design/product needs and troubleshooting issues with customers
- Manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), research and development projects, and product improvements from concept to final release
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop detailed designs for mechanical components
- Create designs using input from sales quotes, engineers, and manufacturing personnel
- Solve manufacturing and assembly issues on the shop floor, ensuring both short- and long-term solutions
- Oversee the assembly and testing of engineering prototypes

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency in Windows programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to read and translate blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of manufacturing design and mechanical processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude for working with hand tools and minor equipment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. without assistance
- Frequent bending, twisting, and squatting, crawling, reaching overhead, and maneuver in tight spaces
- Capacity to climb, stretch, and maneuver on ladders
- Good manual dexterity to handle small components and tools
- Proficient in English for communication and comprehension
- See and hear within reasonably acceptable limits, (this includes the ability to see at a distance and peripherally also includes discerning different colors, primarily red, yellow, and green)
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- 2 years of experience preferred; equivalent experience with an Associate’s degree will be considered
- Proficiency with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD; SolidWorks preferred
