Welder

As a welder, you will be responsible for various welding projects. You will be required to read and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements. You will also be inspecting materials and welds to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.

Job Responsibilities:

• Examine blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements for layouts and procedures.
• Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements.
• Build units by welding to quality specifications; making sure of squaring, levelness and plumb.
• Must remove BB’s and sharp edges from finished product using hand tools; sander, putty knifes, chisel and hammer.
• Inspect finish products against engineering specifications.
• Must use a hoist to move and position product as needed.
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (ex: cut material with power saw to match measurements).
• Operate angle grinder to prepare parts that must be welded, and align components using tape measure, rulers, and clamp pieces.
• Weld components using manual or semiautomatic equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps.
• Operate pneumatic and electric tools, as well as overhead cranes, for transporting components.
• Make necessary adjustments to welder if deviations are detected.
• Maintain welding equipment and perform routine maintenance as needed.
• Adaptable and able to adjust to new processes, technologies, or production requirements.
• Maintain weekly performance measures in accordance with Vestil standards.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while welding and on the production floor.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize safety hazards.
• All other duties as assigned by Lead/Supervisor.

Job Requirements:

• Ability to routinely lift and/or move 50 pounds.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, twist, grasp, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead.
• Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity; ability to use fingers and hands to feel, handle, or squeeze; reach with hands and arms; twist/turn body; perform repetitive motions.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to work in an environment with variable temperature conditions.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, tape measure, and precision tools.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and blueprints.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Ability to prioritize and complete tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that may arise during the assembly process.
• Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English.
• This is a 40 hour per week position and may require mandatory overtime hours.
• Must be 18 years of age or older
