Our small, multi-practice law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to support matters involving personal injury, family law, criminal law, estate planning, and real estate. The Associate Attorney will work closely with senior attorneys while also managing day-to-day case responsibilities and client communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior attorneys with personal injury, family law, criminal law, real estate, and estate-planning matters.
- Attend court appearances regularly throughout Connecticut, primarily for criminal and family matters.
- Draft and file motions, pleadings, and other court documents.
- Assist with discovery, hearings, trial preparation, and trials, particularly in personal injury, family law, and criminal matters.
- Assist with the pre-settlement handling of personal injury claims.
- Manage case files, prepare materials, track deadlines, and maintain organized records.
- Prepare documents for residential and commercial real estate closings and attend closings.
- Communicate with clients, lenders, real estate professionals, and other parties throughout the closing process.
- Draft wills and other estate-planning documents and assist with related client intake.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Connecticut, or recent graduate with Connecticut bar examination results pending.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to courts and other locations throughout Connecticut.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- No prior legal experience is required. Most matters are located in New Haven County, with additional cases in Hartford, Middlesex, and Fairfield Counties.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $65,000 to $85,000, depending on experience, and is negotiable. Benefits include health insurance, paid vacation time, and a retirement plan.
