Electrical PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer is required for a leading global engineering manufacturer based in Augusta.
The successful Electrical PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer will maintain and optimise Siemens S5-controlled production equipment, diagnose electrical and automation faults, modify PLC programs and complete remedial work to reduce downtime.
The Electrical PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer must have Hands-on Siemens S5 and STEP 5 experience , including PLC fault-finding, I/O diagnostics and legacy automation systems. Candidates with Siemens S7 or TIA Portal experience only will not be considered.

Electrical PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer Role
- Maintain, troubleshoot and optimise Siemens S5 PLC-controlled machinery and production equipment.
- Create, modify, upload and download Siemens S5 PLC programs using STEP 5 software.
- Diagnose PLC logic, I/O, communication, electrical control circuit and field-device faults, completing the necessary remedial work.
- Read electrical schematics and support low-voltage, medium-voltage and AC/DC electrical systems.
- Work with production, maintenance, electrical, mechanical and process teams to improve equipment reliability, minimise downtime and support legacy-system upgrades.
- Site based in North Augusta.
Electrical PLC Engineer / Controls Engineer / PLC Engineer Requirements
- Hands-on Siemens S5 PLC programming, maintenance and fault-finding experience is essential; candidates with Siemens S7 or TIA Portal experience only will not be considered.
- Practical experience using Siemens STEP 5 software to access, monitor, back up, modify and restore PLC programs.
- Knowledge of STEP 5 programming formats, including Statement List, Ladder Diagram and Control System Flowchart.
- Strong industrial electrical experience, including I/O systems, sensors, actuators, control circuits, safety circuits and electrical schematics.
- Experience diagnosing legacy PLC hardware and industrial communication faults, ideally including Profibus, SINEC or serial communication systems.
- Commutable to the site daily in North Augusta or willing to relocate.
