Summary:
We are seeking a Transportation Project Manager to lead heavy highway/transportation projects from preconstruction through completion. This role will oversee day-to-day project execution, coordinate closely with field operations, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience managing roadway projects and thrives in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage transportation /roadway projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Coordinate daily project activities with field supervision, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and cost controls.
- Oversee subcontractor performance, contracts, and change orders.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, GDOT specifications, and safety requirements.
- Track quantities, production, and job costs; prepare cost projections and reports.
- Review and process RFIs, submittals, and pay applications.
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with owners and stakeholders.
- Identify project risks and implement solutions to maintain schedule and profitability.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience as a Project Manager on roadway, transportation, or heavy civil projects.
- Strong understanding of roadway construction including grading, drainage, paving, and utilities.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and self-performed work.
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with project management software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with municipal, county, or DOT transportation projects.
