Summary
The Asphalt Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for asphalt paving projects. This role requires direct experience estimating asphalt work and a strong understanding of asphalt materials, production, and paving operations.
Responsibilities
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents for asphalt paving projects.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for asphalt, base, and related paving activities.
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and production-based cost estimates.
- Solicit and analyze pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate bid strategies.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits as needed.
- Prepare and submit complete bid proposals by required deadlines.
- Assist with change order pricing and cost tracking after project award.
- Maintain organized estimating files and historical cost data.
Qualifications
- MUST have at least 2 years of experience estimating asphalt paving projects.
- Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, mix designs, production rates, and paving operations.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., AgTek, ProEstimate, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret civil/transportation drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred but not required.
