Survey Party Chief

Position Overview

Vertical Earth Inc. is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field crews on a variety of projects. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and experienced with modern survey equipment and drone operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a survey field crew on daily assignments
• Perform construction staking, topographic, and as-built surveys
• Operate and maintain survey equipment, including Trimble total stations and Topcon GPS
• Conduct and assist with UAS/drone data collection in compliance with FAA regulations
• Ensure accuracy, productivity, and safety on job sites
• Communicate effectively with project managers, office staff, and clients
• Maintain detailed field notes and ensure proper data collection
• Follow company procedures and safety policies at all times

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief or in a similar leadership role
• Drone License (heavily preferred)
• Proven experience with Trimble surveying equipment and software
• Clean 5–7 year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required
• Strong understanding of surveying principles and field procedures
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional years of field or construction surveying experience
• Experience with data collectors, GPS, robotic total stations, and field software
• Basic knowledge of construction plans and specifications
