Roles & Responsibilities
Enterprise Inventory Governance & Control
- Own and administer enterprise inventory control policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure accurate, timely recording of all inventory transactions within ERP and WCS/WMS systems.
- Lead and standardize cycle count programs across facilities, including scheduling, execution, variance analysis, and corrective action.
- Conduct root cause analysis on inventory discrepancies and implement sustainable corrective/preventive actions.
- Partner with Finance to support inventory valuation accuracy, audit readiness, and month-end reconciliation processes.
- Monitor inventory KPIs, including accuracy %, shrinkage, inventory turns, excess/obsolete inventory, and aging.
- Ensure proper segregation of duties and compliance with internal control requirements.
- Ensure inventory-related receiving transactions are accurately verified, documented, and recorded in the ERP system in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitor compliance with lot control, batch traceability, and labeling requirements to maintain material visibility and audit readiness.
- Review and investigate receiving discrepancies (damage, shortages, quality issues) and coordinate resolution with Purchasing, Quality, and Operations.
- Maintain required documentation to support ISO 9001 standards, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve dock-to-stock accuracy and transaction timeliness through process standardization and corrective action recommendations.
- Serve as subject matter expert for inventory transactions
- Ensure data integrity to support MRP, production planning, and procurement accuracy.
- Identify system gaps, transaction errors, and process inefficiencies; escalate and partner on solutions.
- Support ERP enhancements, testing, training, and process documentation updates.
- Develop and maintain standardized work instructions for inventory-related transactions.
- Ensure storage locations are organized, labeled, and maintained in accordance with 5S and visual management standards.
- Oversee proper material disposition including quarantine, non-conforming, obsolete, and scrap inventory.
- Support packaging revisions and material phase-in/phase-out processes to prevent inventory obsolescence.
- Coordinate inventory shutdowns, disposals, and write-offs in partnership with Finance and Operations.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, hazardous material handling, and company safety standards.
- Participate in safety audits and proactively identify risk areas related to material handling and storage.
- Maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Support internal and external audits related to inventory and material controls.
- Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Purchasing, Quality, and IT to resolve inventory and material issues.
- Provide regular reporting and analysis to leadership on inventory performance and risk areas.
- Train and mentor team members on inventory control best practices.
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory optimization and cost reduction.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3–5 years of inventory control experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Experience with ERP systems (JDE preferred) and RF scanning technology.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in variance investigation and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of cycle counting methodologies and inventory auditing practices.
- 3 years supporting ISO 9001 or regulated manufacturing environments.
- 3 years working knowledge of MRP Planning processes.
- 3 years working within Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).
