Service Writer

We are seeking a motivated, organized, and customer-focused Service Writer to serve as the first point of contact for our customers and help keep our shop running smoothly. This position is responsible for answering phones, scheduling appointments, creating estimates, communicating with customers, and assisting with the day-to-day flow of the shop.

Our shop specializes in custom, performance, and high-value vehicles where communication, attention to detail, and customer service are essential. The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of automotive repair and maintenance, enjoys working with people, and is eager to grow within the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers in person, over the phone, and through email.
• Answer incoming phone calls professionally and assist customers with service inquiries, scheduling, estimates, and general questions.
• Schedule appointments and help manage the daily service calendar.
• Create estimates and work orders based on customer concerns and technician recommendations.
• Clearly explain repair recommendations, maintenance services, pricing, and timelines to customers.
• Communicate with customers throughout the repair process, providing updates and obtaining approvals when needed.
• Recommend and upsell maintenance services, repairs, and performance upgrades while maintaining honesty and customer trust.
• Coordinate with technicians and management to ensure efficient communication and timely completion of work.
• Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, estimates, invoices, and vehicle service history.
• Process customer payments and assist with general front office responsibilities.
• Help maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming environment for customers and team members.
• Build long-term customer relationships through outstanding communication and service.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, service writing, service advisor, parts department, dealership, or automotive industry experience preferred.
• Basic automotive knowledge is required. Candidates should be comfortable discussing common maintenance and repair services and understanding technician recommendations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to explain automotive services clearly to customers with varying levels of vehicle knowledge.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable recommending additional services and repairs when appropriate.
• Experience with estimating software, shop management software, or service writing is a plus but not required.
• Experience with custom, performance, luxury, or specialty vehicles is a plus.
• Valid driver's license preferred.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
