Senior Tax Accountant
Location – Sterling, VA (Hybrid)
Summary
The Senior Tax Accountant is a newly available opportunity within a publicly traded and industry leading organization. Ideal candidates should have three or more years of related tax accounting experience whether in public accounting or internal corporate with a CPA (or CPA in progress) and experience with corporate or partnership income tax matters.
Job Description
- Maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate tax requirements and mitigation of tax risk for the company and its affiliates.
- Performs tax research, identifies critical tax risks, monitors, evaluates and communicates the impact of enacted changes in federal, state and local tax regulations.
- Responsible for preparing tax provisions, general ledger entries, reconciliations, unclaimed property and escheatment process, and required financial reporting disclosures for the company’s financial statements.
- Respond to tax-related inquiries and correspondence from federal, state and local tax authorities, external auditors and internal accounting, legal and HR inquiries and assist in resolution of issues.
- Proactively identifies and implements tax-related process improvements to ensure the accuracy and adequate documentation of all tax calculations, reports and filings and ensures compliance with tax-related SOX controls.
- Responsible for other tax related matters like 1099s, Business, Professional and Occupational License tax, property tax, etc.
- Completes all tax related account reconciliations and journal entries on a monthly basis
- Assists with informational reporting for maintaining state lender’s license in various states, prepare and submit response to Census surveys.
- Assists with the preparation of tax and certain non-tax disclosures in the quarterly Form 10-Q and annual 10-K filings with the SEC.
- Assists with preparing board materials and review of investor relations/rating agency communications
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, with emphasis in tax preferred.
- CPA required.
- 3 years tax experience in public accounting or private industry.
- Experience with Excel is required.
- Experience with federal and state corporation tax returns is required.
- Experience with income tax accounting preparation, provisioning experience highly preferred.
- Ability to work on a hybrid basis - 3 days in per week, on occasion 4 days in.
Salary : $115,000 - $120,000
