Tax Accountant
Location: Greater Milwaukee Area
Compensation: $70,000–$90,000

The firm provides a blend of tax, accounting, bookkeeping, and advisory services, while continuing to expand its focus on proactive tax planning and strategic consulting.

About the Role
This Tax Accountant will support a mix of individual and small business clients while gaining exposure to advanced tax planning strategies and advisory services.
The role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with clients, wants to develop beyond traditional tax compliance work, and is interested in building a long-term career in public accounting. The firm is willing to invest heavily in training and development for someone who is motivated to learn and grow within the profession.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare individual income tax returns and support business tax engagements
- Assist with tax planning initiatives for business owners and individual clients
- Support bookkeeping, accounting, and QuickBooks review engagements as needed
- Conduct tax research and assist with implementing tax strategies and planning recommendations
- Build and maintain relationships with clients through ongoing communication and service
- Collaborate with firm leadership on client deliverables and advisory projects
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations
- Participate in process improvements and contribute to firm growth initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years of accounting, tax, bookkeeping, or public accounting experience preferred
- Experience preparing individual tax returns
- Familiarity with small business accounting and tax concepts
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-starter mentality with a willingness to learn and develop new technical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative environment
- Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Experience
- Public accounting experience
- Exposure to small business clients and owner-operated businesses
- Experience with bookkeeping, QuickBooks, or client accounting services
- CPA eligibility or progress toward certification
- Interest in tax planning, consulting, and advisory services
- Desire to build long-term client relationships and take increasing ownership of client accounts
