Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager to lead high-voltage overhead transmission line projects across the United States.

This role focuses heavily on structural design leadership and technical oversight, ensuring engineering quality, budget adherence, project schedule performance, and team development.

The selected candidate will serve as the responsible engineer overseeing the complete design lifecycle of major transmission infrastructure programs while coordinating across engineering, procurement, permitting, real estate, and construction teams.

This is an excellent leadership opportunity within a stable, growth-oriented engineering firm supporting major U.S. utility transmission programs.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

• Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams on overhead transmission projects.
• Oversee engineering quality, budget performance, and schedule adherence.
• Serve as Engineer of Record for complex or multi-project assignments.
• Perform and review complex engineering calculations and technical deliverables.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff.
  
  

Technical Oversight

• Provide subject matter expertise in high-voltage transmission line routing and structural loading.
• Guide structural and foundation design decisions.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards, codes, and engineering best practices.
• Oversee design deliverables including loading analysis, structural modeling, and engineering calculations.
  
  

Client & Business Support

• Engage directly with utility clients to understand project requirements and resolve technical concerns.
• Support project proposals, cost estimates, and business development efforts.
• Coordinate scope changes with project leadership and stakeholders.
• Represent the engineering team in technical discussions with clients and partners.
  
  

Team Leadership

• Review engineering deliverables and ensure design quality.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineers and technical staff.
• Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
• Promote technical excellence and professional growth within the team.
  
  

Ideal Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will have strong experience delivering high-voltage overhead transmission line projects for U.S. utilities with deep expertise in structural design and transmission engineering.

Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills, advanced technical knowledge, and the ability to manage complex infrastructure projects while collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications

• 7-12 years of transmission line design experience
• Experience with 69kV transmission lines or higher
• PLS-CADD proficiency (Required)
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering preferred
• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering backgrounds considered
• Experience in structural design for transmission lines
• Experience designing foundations, structures, and loading analysis
• Knowledge of transmission line materials including:
• Steel
• Wood
• Laminate
• Composite structures
• Experience supporting EPC or design services for U.S. utilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Experience with Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission projects (500kV )
• Experience with lattice tower design
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams
