The technician will perform RF, microwave, digital, video, and system-level testing, analyze operational data, and assist in improving manufacturing processes through testing and evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Testing
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of parts, components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
- Support engineers with equipment setup, calibration, and test configuration.
- Collect and analyze operational data using test systems and specialized software.
- Perform rework and adjustments based on testing results.
- Conduct RF tests such as insertion loss, gain, and VSWR using RF test equipment.
- Assist in setting up and executing RF test procedures.
- Support testing of gyro stabilization and positioning systems.
- Use test equipment to verify system functionality.
- Assist with synchro nulling and gyroscope alignment during assembly.
- Establish system connections and verify data communications and signal integrity.
- Confirm presence and performance of data streams and communication signals.
- Configure and adjust video monitors and TV cameras used in testing systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot video faults such as:
- Loss of synchronization
- Video noise
- Incorrect display settings
- Test circuits using tools such as logic probes and digital test equipment.
- Analyze signals and verify proper integration of digital electronic components.
- Work with manufacturing documentation and procedures.
- Maintain accurate test records and documentation.
- Perform component-level and subassembly testing according to engineering drawings.
- Program devices including microprocessors and microcomputers using defined procedures.
- Conduct unit-level and system-level operational testing.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of relevant experience, OR
- Associate Degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or related field
- Experience with electronic testing in a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with electronic assemblies, circuits, or instrumentation
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and data sheets
- Knowledge of RF testing equipment and electronics testing tools
- Understanding of digital electronics fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Knowledge of SAP systems
- Familiarity with electronics manufacturing standards:
- IPC-A-610
- IPC-620
- J-STD-001
- Experience working in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
- US Citizenship required for clearance eligibility
- Ability to work 100% onsite in Northampton, MA
