Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the behavioral health unit
- Provide leadership and supervision to multidisciplinary teams
- Ensure 24/7 operational excellence and patient care standards
- Collaborate with Director and senior leadership
- Ensure delivery of high-quality psychiatric care
- Monitor admissions, discharges, and care plans
- Oversee patient care standards and staff competencies
- Implement best practices in behavioral health care
- Ensure compliance with NYSDOH, JCAHO, OMH, DOHMH, Client regulations
- Lead performance improvement and quality initiatives
- Conduct data analysis, reporting, and regulatory documentation
- Support audits and accreditation processes
- Manage unit budgeting, supplies, and inventory
- Prepare clinical and statistical reports
- Support staffing, scheduling, and departmental planning
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, staff, and stakeholders
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning
- Support staff development and continuing education
- MUST HAVE: Experience managing a psych unit in a hospital
- Minimum 5 years RN experience
- Minimum 5 years clinical psychiatry experience
- Minimum 2 years leadership experience
- Active RN License - New York State
- BLS & ACLS Certifications
- Crisis Management Certification (PMCS / TRUST)
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Experience in pediatric behavioral health (if applicable)
- Experience with CQI, Root Cause Analysis, and quality improvement tools
