The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for the design, development, documentation, and execution of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) used to verify spacecraft avionics and electronics. Key Responsibilities
EGSE Hardware Development
- Design and develop electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) including:
- Custom test boxes
- Specialized cabling
- Integration of COTS test instruments
- Ensure hardware can validate all design and contractual requirements of the Unit Under Test (UUT)
- Work with systems utilizing:
- Embedded Single Board Computers (Client)
- Custom analog/digital I/O boards for Command & Data Handling (C&DH)
- Electrical Power System (EPS) boards for power switching, solar array interface, and battery charging
- Produce and maintain schematics, assembly drawings, and parts lists in Moog's document control system
- Develop NI LabVIEW VI's for instrument control, monitoring, and UI
- Write Python or PERL scripts to automate VxWorks and LabVIEW test execution
- Integrate test code with Client-level C code running on VxWorks
- Familiarity with VHDL is desirable for FPGA test integration
- Author and maintain:
- Integration & Test Plans
- Environmental Test Plans
- Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for customer delivery
- Use Microsoft Visio, Excel, Word, and Intercept Mozaix for test documentation
- Ensure all test systems meet program, design, and contract requirements
- Support internal reviews, customer reviews, and formal configuration control
- Mentor junior test engineers in hardware, software, debugging, and documentation
- Support cross-functional engineering teams to meet schedules and solve integration issues
- Take full ownership of assignments and drive tasks to on-time completion
- BS in Electrical Engineering
- 7-10 years of relevant test engineering experience
- Hands-on development experience using C, LabVIEW, Python, or PERL
- Ability to read and create cable drawings using Visio
- Strong hardware design and electronics troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with VxWorks
- Experience with FPGA/VHDL
- Spacecraft avionics or aerospace hardware testing
- Experience with cPCI, embedded Clients, C&DH systems, or EPS testing
