Respiratory Care Practitioner – Children's Hospital Float
Location: Spokane, Washington

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) supports the Children's Hospital Float Team, serving across the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), and Core hospital units.
The RCP plays a critical role in providing safe, high-quality respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients. This includes managing ventilators, delivering oxygen therapy, performing diagnostic procedures, and collaborating closely with physicians and nurses to develop and execute individualized patient care plans.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced respiratory therapy procedures for neonates, children, and adolescents in NICU, PICU, and core areas.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient respiratory status and therapy response.
- Operate and maintain complex ventilatory and resuscitation equipment.
- Assist physicians in respiratory-related diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Deliver and monitor oxygen and aerosolized medication therapy.
- Respond rapidly to respiratory emergencies (code situations, intubations, transport support).
- Ensure compliance with all infection control and patient safety standards.
- Collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary care teams.
- Participate in continuing education and department-based quality improvement initiatives.
- Education: Coursework and/or training sufficient to meet licensing and certification requirements.
- License:
- Washington State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License – required upon hire
- Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) – required upon hire
- Experience:
- Pediatric and/or neonatal respiratory care experience preferred.
- Familiarity with ventilator management and critical care environments highly desirable.
- Experience in a children's hospital or NICU/PICU setting.
- Advanced life support certifications (e.g., NRP, PALS) preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt in high-acuity, fast-paced environments.
