We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Health Information Management (HIM) Director to lead and oversee health information operations in Los Alamos, NM. The ideal candidate will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of patient health records while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department
- Ensure accurate, complete, and secure patient health records
- Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA
- Develop and implement HIM policies, procedures, and best practices
- Lead audits and ensure data integrity and confidentiality
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and IT teams
- Train, mentor, and manage HIM staff
- Review staff performance and administer corrective actions when necessary
- Manage department budgets, reporting, and performance metrics
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred)
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) certification
- Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Los Alamos within 45 days
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA)
- Prior experience in an acute care setting
- Experience in staff training, development, performance reviews, and corrective actions
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- In-depth knowledge of HIM practices, compliance, and regulations
- Excellent organizational and data management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (preferred)
- RHIT or RHIA certification (required)
- Healthcare administrative setting
- Hospital / acute care environment (preferred)
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team
