Venteon Finance is currently seeking a Regional Controller for a fast-growing, private equity–backed mechanical services company based in the metro-Detroit area. This position will oversee all accounting and finance operations for the region and play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic growth.
Requirements of the Regional Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive financial leadership experience in a multi-location, growth-oriented services or contracting environment.
- Strong understanding of project accounting, cost accounting, and percentage-of-completion methods.
- Proven ability to analyze operational performance, manage budgets, and provide actionable business insights.
- Demonstrated experience supporting M&A transactions and financial integrations.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills with a “hands-on,” roll-up-your-sleeves approach.
Responsibilities of the Regional Controller
- Oversee all accounting and finance operations for multiple business units within the Michigan region, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and cost accounting.
- Lead the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Partner closely with the Regional Vice President and CFO to drive regional performance, profitability, and process improvement.
- Develop, implement, and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and financial models to improve decision-making and business accountability.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning; provide variance analysis and insights to support strategic and operational goals.
- Lead cost accounting and margin analysis processes, including quote rate development, WIP management, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
- Support M&A activity, including due diligence, integration, and opening balance sheet preparation.
- Manage treasury and risk management functions at the regional level.
- Build and mentor a strong accounting and finance team focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and scalability.
