What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fiber Splicer position at Vensure?
Our operating unit provides telecom construction services, and we are seeking an experienced Fiber Splicer to join our growing team. This role involves aerial and underground fiber construction, splicing fiber optic cables, and supporting communication systems for cable television and telecommunications networks. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and thrives in a team-based environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret work orders, specifications, engineering drawings, and cut sheets to determine proper work sequences.
- Splice, repair, and install new fiber optic lines to meet project testing and certification requirements.
- Install passive and active devices, enclosures, terminals, and panels.
- Test fiber optic lines to ensure balanced signal, continuity, and optimal performance.
- Pull fiber optic cable through existing ducts or conduits manually, mechanically, or using blowing techniques.
- Splice and activate both underground and aerial fiber lines.
- Optimize new nodes and perform node splits to reduce capacity issues.
- Accurately utilize light meters and OTDR equipment.
- Safely operate bucket trucks or climb utility poles in accordance with system design and safety standards.
- Complete production sheets and close out projects by verifying signal levels, activating systems, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, governmental regulations, and customer requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Education & Experience
- 2–5 years of fiber optic splicing experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license required.
