What are the responsibilities and job description for the Aerial Lineman position at Vensure?
The Lineman / Utility Construction Technician supports aerial and underground utility construction projects by installing, relocating, and maintaining cable infrastructure. This role involves physically demanding field work, strict adherence to safety standards, and close collaboration with line crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to industry standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all duties in compliance with prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Install and/or relocate aerial and underground cable, including fiber optic, transportation, distribution, and drop cable.
- Ensure all work meets industry standards, is technically sound, and completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Provide support to line crews during all phases of construction activities.
- Identify and report power space violations and other safety concerns.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to climb utility poles to cable height using pole climber gaffs.
- Ability to lift, reach, dig, and carry heavy objects, including frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Capable of performing sustained manual labor, including walking on uneven terrain, working in tight spaces, and completing physically demanding tasks safely and efficiently.
- Willingness and ability to work up to six (6) days per week in all weather conditions and travel as required.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance with all company and customer safety guidelines.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Current, valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A preferred, with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a lineman, with demonstrated knowledge of power space violations and safety practices.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment, on-site certification, demonstrating the ability to perform job duties to the satisfaction of construction supervision.
- Ability to speak, read, and understand the English language fluently and clearly.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening; random testing will be conducted after hire.
- Must pass a customer-driven background check.
- Must consistently follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE at all times.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $38.00 - $42.00 per hour
