Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Designer (Civil Designer / AutoCAD Technician) to join our growing engineering team. This position collaborates closely with Project Engineers, Project Managers, and other design professionals to develop construction drawings and technical plans for commercial, industrial, residential, institutional, and mixed-use site development projects throughout South Carolina and the Southeastern United States.
The ideal candidate is highly proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, enjoys solving design challenges, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality construction documents that contribute to successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Civil Design & Drafting
- Prepare detailed construction drawings and plan sets for site development projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Develop grading, drainage, erosion control, utility, roadway, and site layout plans under the direction of licensed engineers and project managers.
- Create and manage Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, and grading models.
- Utilize survey data to develop existing conditions and base mapping.
- Assist engineers with site layouts, technical exhibits, and project documentation.
- Develop plan and profile drawings for storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water distribution systems.
- Prepare construction details, cross-sections, and quantity takeoffs.
- Revise plans based on engineering markups, client feedback, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate drawing updates across multiple disciplines to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Project Coordination
- Participate in project meetings and coordinate with project teams to meet schedules and deadlines.
- Assist with permit application exhibits and supporting graphics.
- Support the identification of required permits and communicate permit conditions within plans and specifications.
- Organize project files and maintain company CAD standards and best practices.
- Work closely with engineers, surveyors, project managers, and consultants throughout the design process.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting & Design Technology, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience preparing civil engineering construction plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Entry-level candidates with strong Civil 3D experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Understanding of civil engineering drafting standards and construction plan preparation.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate work.

Salary : $52,000 - $93,600
