JOB DESCRIPTIONPosition Title: Senior Buyer Department: PurchasingShift: DaysReports to: Purchasing and Logistics ManagerExempt/Non-exempt ExemptPosition Purpose:Oversee the procurement function of the company and have ownership of material flow, long term supply contracts, supplier negotiation, and continuous improvement of supply chain processes. Essential Duties and responsibilitiesMeet all supply chain metrics, managing inventory levels, on-time shipment, and cost controlUtilizes MRP and other input to obtain materials, components, and equipment on time as required by production and engineering schedules, expedites materials as necessaryIdentifies actual and potential delivery problems to take proactive steps to eliminate their impact on the supply chainWorks to minimize inventory dollar levels and improve turnsWorks cross-functionally to resolve supplier invoice discrepanciesMonitors, analyzes and reports material variances to standard cost. Works cross-functionally to establish standard costsReviews and implements engineering changes for purchased and sub-contracted materialsAddresses and resolves discrepant (quantity or quality) material internally and with suppliersReviews and updates reports to maintain supply chain metricsVerifies data accuracy (part numbers, BOMs, part cost, lead time, etc.) in MRP and corrects data considering impact to the supply chainNegotiates delivery terms, dates, and conditions for the procurement of required materials and services from suppliersLeads supplier audits and supplier selection. Works cross-functionally to develop new suppliersEstablishes and maintains relationships with suppliers and appropriate representatives. Directs and provides supplier technical and operating expertise as required by internal customersContinually assesses market conditions which may affect procurement and recommends procurement and supply chain management strategy changesResponsible for optimizing material costs through vendor analysis, quality, schedule, cost evaluation, etc. Applies cost effective measures to support standard cost and make vs. buy decisionsHelps lead and contributes to the training of other buyersLeads implementation of improvement processes to reduce inventory, cost, and non-value added workCompletes special assignments for the Supply Chain department as directed by the Purchasing and Logistics ManagerResponsible for following all establish Vaupell policies, standard operating procedures and safety practices Other duties as assignedJob Qualifications/RequirementsHigh Schol Diploma/GED4 years purchasing experience required; purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment preferredDemonstrated ability to perform Senior Buyer roleFundamental knowledge of MRP systems requiredPrevious experience with Epicor preferred Microsoft Suite experience requiredExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsCandidates must be a “US Person” (i.e. US Citizen or Permanent Resident) to ensure Vaupell's compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and EAR (Export Administration Regulations)Environmental ConditionWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
