CTE Student Engineering Intern

Position Summary:

The High School Intern will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment by assisting with automation projects, safety improvements, and process optimization. This role is designed to provide exposure to technical skills, employability skills, and teamwork while contributing to meaningful projects that support operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Robot Safety & Guarding:
  Assist in building robot cages with integrated safety features under supervision.

• EOAT Design & Fabrication:
  Design and build End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT) using CAD software and 3D printing technology.

• Automation Cost Savings:
  Support implementation of automation initiatives aimed at reducing costs, guided by the Manufacturing Engineer.

• Cycle Time Studies:
  Conduct cycle time observations and document findings to identify process improvement opportunities.

• Documentation & Job Instructions:
  Help update and validate job instructions by collaborating with affected teams.

• Bill of Materials (BOM):
  Learn to create BOMs for designed projects and ensure accuracy for 3D models.

• Project Support:
  Participate in automation investigations (e.g., P43 project) and provide recommendations for improvement.

• Safety Guarding Implementation:
  Assist in installing safety guarding for existing robots (pending budget approval).
