Position Overview
We are looking for a dependable, flexible, and enthusiastic Floater Teacher to join our childcare team! The Floater Teacher plays an important role in supporting classrooms throughout the center and provides flexibility where additional support is needed.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with children of all age groups, from infants through preschool and Pre-K. Rather than being assigned to one classroom, the Floater Teacher will move between classrooms based on staffing needs, teacher breaks, absences, ratios, and classroom activities.
This is a great position for someone who enjoys variety, building relationships with children and teachers, and experiencing all areas of an early childhood program.
Responsibilities
- Provide nurturing, responsive, and developmentally appropriate care to children.
- Float between classrooms and age groups as needed, including infants, toddlers, preschool, and Pre-K.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and follow all childcare licensing regulations.
- Assist classroom teachers with daily routines, activities, transitions, meals, diapering/toileting, and supervision.
- Provide coverage for teacher breaks, lunches, appointments, and absences.
- Support classrooms during busy arrival and departure times.
- Help create a safe, clean, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment.
- Participate in age-appropriate activities and curriculum experiences.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Follow center policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Communicate effectively with classroom teachers and administration.
- Assist wherever needed to help the center operate smoothly.
- Maintain a positive and flexible attitude when classroom assignments or daily responsibilities change.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare or early childhood setting is required.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) credits or coursework preferred.
- Ability to work comfortably with children across multiple age groups.
- Dependable, responsible, and punctual.
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing classroom needs.
- Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently while also being a supportive member of the teaching team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all children.
