Job Description:
The Industrial Electrician must be familiar with all Maintenance Department activities. They will assist in installation and upgrades of equipment, maintain power distribution, HVAC, lighting and related equipment. Install and troubleshoot AC drives, programmable logic controllers, robotic cells and all in plant equipment. They should be proficient in using Rockwell Automation Factory Talk software including Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, Asset Centre, and Connected Components Workbench. Must be able to use MS Office programs MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
They must be available for day or night shift call-ins. Utilization of all tools required to perform duties. Senior Industrial Electrician may be required to perform other maintenance duties that are not electrical in nature and may also be required to direct other maintenance personnel in regard to proper electrical procedures.
Working Conditions:
Senior Industrial Electrician perform physically demanding work in varied ambient temperature conditions. At times they are required to lift heavy objects, stoop, kneel or crouch in awkward positions. All work areas require eye protection. Some other work areas are also hearing protected areas, around potentially dangerous machinery and in high forklift traffic areas. To avoid injury, employees are required to wear safety clothing and equipment such as gloves, arm guards, hearing and eye protection. Industrial Electrician generally work 8 hours shifts; however, longer shifts up to 10 hours are common. These shifts are normally a day or a night shift. Weekend work on Saturdays is spelled out in USWA union contract. As members of the Maintenance Department they may need to perform other maintenance duties as required.
Qualifications Required:
- English Language: Speak, read, write and comprehend.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Formal technical training is required.
- Ability to read, interpret and sketch electrical drawings and schematics.
- Minimum of 15 years experience in electrical field with 5 years in electronics and PLC’s.
- 5 years minimum pressroom exposure preferred.
- History of exceptional work attendance.
- Must have an overall understanding of operations in an Industrial environment.
- Must have and furnish own tools of the trade.
Overall Responsibility of Job:
To be familiar with all Maintenance Department activities and make recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor. May be required by supervisor to do maintenance work which is not electrical in nature. May also be required to direct other maintenance people in regard to proper electrical installation and maintenance procedures relating to standard electrical, state of the art electronics, PLC’s and equipment under computerized programs.
Specific Duties:
- Perform assigned job in a safe manner. Wear required personal protective equipment. Follow company safety rules. Practice and observe all OSHA safety rules.
- A/C, D/C control wiring, assist in installation and maintenance.
- Maintenance and repair of all electrical in-plant equipment including state of the art electronics, PLC’s, and computerized programs.
- Plant electric and construction wiring, installation and maintenance.
- Maintenance of AC drives, DC drives and servo drives (Allen-Bradley).
- Maintenance of plant HVAC equipment, plant lighting fixtures and related equipment
- Utilization of all required tools, instruments and equipment necessary to perform the duties of Senior Electronic Technician.
- Must be proficient with Rockwell Automation Factory Talk programming and troubleshooting software.
- May be required to work night shift in accordance with the provisions set forth in the bargaining agreement and must be available for day or night call ins.
- Perform other job related duties as required.
- General knowledge of the national electrical code.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities.
