The Employment Coach provides on-site training, supportive supervision, and skill-building assistance to clients in community employment settings. This position reports directly to the Employment Specialist and is responsible for helping clients develop independence, maintain employment, and build positive relationships with employers and coworkers while ensuring accurate documentation and program compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provides specific, on-site training to clients in accordance with their service plans.
2. Facilitates job modifications as needed to accommodate client abilities and workplace requirements.
3. Provides supportive supervision to clients while promoting independence and skill development.
4. Initiates and fosters positive communication and relationships between clients and their
coworkers/employers.
5. Serves as a positive role model for clients, demonstrating appropriate work behaviors and expectations.
6. May perform client job tasks for a short duration if the client is unable or unwilling, ensuring continuity of work and training opportunities.
Performance Monitoring & Documentation
7. Conducts on-site evaluations of client performance and provides feedback to the Employment Specialist.
8. Assists in maintaining accurate records and documentation related to client progress and employment outcomes.
9. Attends client service reviews, department, committee, and unit meetings as directed.
10. Arranges or provides transportation for clients to and from employment sites as directed.
11. Accepts other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Prior experience working with individuals with varying abilities.
- Flexibility in work hours to meet client and employer needs.
- Ability to perform the supported job in the absence of a client, ensuring continuity of training.
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and current insurance.
- Reliable means of transportation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with clients, employers, and coworkers.
Preferred
- Experience in supported employment or vocational skills training.
