What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at Vantage Consulting?
Systems & Applications Engineer – Power Electronics
About the Opportunity
Join a fast-growing, venture-backed power semiconductor company that’s developing next-generation MOSFET devices for high-performance power electronics. Backed by a leadership team with a track record of building and scaling successful technology companies, we’re focused on breakthrough devices that deliver higher efficiency, faster switching, and superior system performance.
Why This Role?
This isn’t just another cost-reduction engineering job. As part of a small but ambitious applications team, you’ll have a direct impact on how cutting-edge devices are designed, validated, and used by customers. You’ll work across hardware, test, and system-level optimization - designing real boards, power supplies, and motor drives that showcase the future of power electronics.
Expect:
✅ An engineering-driven culture (no pigeonholing)
✅ Hands-on, hardware-focused design and validation
✅ Competitive salary equity ownership
✅ Career growth in a high-funding, high-impact environment
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and test reference designs (buck, boost, LLC, half-bridge, motor drives, etc.) that highlight advanced MOSFET performance
- Develop schematics, PCB layouts, and application notes for customer adoption
- Run system-level trade-offs for efficiency, thermal, and reliability optimization
- Partner with device engineers and customers to validate performance in real applications
- Support marketing and customer teams with technical insight and design guidance
- Present and demonstrate designs to customers and at industry events
What We’re Looking For
- Experience designing switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) or motor drives
- Strong knowledge of topologies (buck, boost, LLC, half/full-bridge) and trade-offs
- Power stage design skills (MOSFETs, drivers, magnetics, capacitors, etc.)
- Hands-on build/test mindset—able to take a schematic through bring-up and validation
- Familiarity with PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD) and lab equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):
- Magnetics design experience
- Digital control / embedded firmware for power supplies
The Big Picture
This role puts you side-by-side with some of the most accomplished engineers in semiconductors. It’s a rare opportunity to gain broad, career-defining experience in power electronics - while working on technology that’s already out in the market. If you’re looking for a hands-on engineering role with growth, ownership, and impact—this could be the next step in your career.
