What are the responsibilities and job description for the MANUFACTURING ASSISTANT position at Vanguard Furniture Co Inc?
Position Summary: Performs upholstery ticket print and produces upholstery part orders. Schedules upholstery orders and other administrative functions as assigned by the Scheduling Manager. Position requires both manufacturing plant and office work.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Ticket Print (Primary function)
Perform daily upholstery production ticket print for manufacturing.
§ AS400 ticket print process and attachment of Law Labels
§ Maintaining diagram and COM swatch documentation to be included with production tickets
2. Law Label (Primary function)
§ Law label knowledge and application.
§ Print on-demand, as needed.
§ Maintain sufficient stock levels. (deck labels, law labels, etc.)
3. Parts Orders (Primary function) Track and produce upholstery parts orders with a 2-week turnaround.
§ Order cores/parts
§ Gather parts from cage inventory (casters, ferrules, nails, etc.)
§ Maintain order reporting
§ Oversee pillow parts inventory and processing
4. Cross-train in other areas of Production Scheduling Assist with upholstery scheduling and other duties as assigned
Essential Skills and Experience:
§ Previous Furniture Experience preferred. (Upholstery, Frame, Finish, Cutting/Sewing, etc.)
§ Excellent verbal and written skills required.
§ Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook Email, Word, Teams, SharePoint) with strong emphasis on Excel.
· Familiar with office equipment. (Copy/Scan, Printer, Zebra Printer)
· Must be organized and able to pay particular attention to detail.
§ Must have good problem-solving skills and take initiative to interact and resolve challenges with others.
§ Must be an active listener with the ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
§ Must be self-motivated and on task with high quality output.
§ Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional.
§ Ability to work well with others, be a part of a team, and achieve shared goals within the Production Scheduling Department
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
§ Previous furniture experience preferred. (Upholstery, Frame, Finish, Cutting/Sewing, etc.)
§ Knowledgeable in regulatory law label application. (Can be taught in-house, if needed.)
Physical demands and work environment:
§ Lift / Carry: Lift up to 10 lbs. frequently; up to 35 pounds occasionally; more weight requires help or team lifting.
§ Standing/Walking/Sitting: Must be able to sit 8 hours and required to walk/stand throughout shift.
§ Reach / Handle: Frequently required to reach, handle various items.
§ Fingering or Manual Dexterity: Position requires frequent use of computer keyboard, mouse, screen and on-line communication.
§ Environment: Predominately Indoors in environmentally controlled atmosphere, but will occasionally be required to work in uncontrolled areas as well.
§ Vision: Color determination for quality control and correct material selection.
§ Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for
precision.
§ Attention to Detail: Precise in following company guidelines for best cost solution to resolve customer issues.
§ Self-Control: Job requires maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.
