Assurance Manager

Our client, an established public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Assurance Manager to join its growing assurance practice. This position will lead audit, review, and other assurance engagements while managing client relationships and developing members of the assurance team. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting and auditing expertise with excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.

This role is a hybrid model in Portland, Oregon.

Assurance Manager Responsibilities

• Lead audit, review, compilation, and other assurance engagements from planning through completion.
• Oversee engagement planning, fieldwork, financial statement preparation and review, and engagement completion.
• Review workpapers and financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting and auditing standards.
• Research and resolve complex accounting and auditing matters.
• Manage multiple client engagements, deadlines, budgets, staffing, and overall engagement economics.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and develop strong, long-term relationships.
• Identify client issues and opportunities and provide appropriate guidance and recommendations.
• Supervise, coach, and develop senior associates and staff.
• Provide ongoing feedback and participate in employee development and performance discussions.
• Coordinate engagement staffing and resources.
• Collaborate with partners, senior leadership, and other professionals on client matters.
• Stay current on accounting standards, auditing requirements, and regulatory developments.
• Participate in recruiting, training, business development, and other firm initiatives as appropriate.
  
  

Assurance Manager Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Active CPA license required.
• 5 years of recent public accounting assurance/audit experience.
• Experience leading and managing audit and assurance engagements.
• Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards.
• Experience reviewing financial statements and audit workpapers.
• Experience managing multiple engagements, deadlines, and client relationships.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.
• Strong technical accounting, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project-management abilities.
• Ideal Candidate
• Current Audit/Assurance Manager or an experienced assurance professional ready to operate at the Manager level.
• Recent public accounting experience is important.
• Active CPA.
• Strong hands-on audit and assurance background.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and engagements from planning through completion.
• Experience developing and mentoring staff.
• Able to successfully manage multiple clients and competing deadlines in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
  
  

Salary: $105K–$140K/year. (DOE)Benefits
