This position must plan, arrange, coordinate, and execute activities and events for the Senior Center. Participate in conducting the annual Senior Games across the five counties in the Kerr Tar region. Coordinate with organization and individuals to conduct presentation and activities on a regular basis for senor adults at the center. Record and document activities and events to achieve continued certification of the Senior Center through SCOPE.
Regular hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:00 pm. Some activities and special events may be before or after the regular hours of operations. Some weekend work may be required.1. Create the monthly calendar of activities and events conducted by the Senior Center.
2. Reach out to individuals, organizations, and community agencies to arrange presentations, events and activities for senior adults at the center.
3. Schedule and arrange for needed equipment, furniture, or supplies needed for activities held at the center. Ex: Clean and sanitize blood pressure cuffs for visits by medical professional to check blood pressure for participants.
4. Provide support and assistance to participants of the computer lab, pool tables, and gym.
5. Coordinate with Job Corps students who shadow for 2 weeks’ periods at the center.
6. Plan and make transportation arrangements as well as tickets purchases for out of town activities.
7. Collect funds from senior adults, record and provide receipts, and process through the established agency process with the Business Office.
8.Help conduct and manage activities at the Senior Games held over a 2 1/2-month period in the five county Kerr Tar region.
9. Maintain a book which included event/activities summaries, sign-in sheets of participants, copies of invoices, and expenses, and other information as required through the Senior Center certification process.
10. Manage established annual budget in planning and implementing activities, events and trips. Coordinate and communicate plans with Administrative Officer Il.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrative Officer Il and serve as an active member of the Senior Center team.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by the agency director to include emergency duty and assisting with displace children and adults.KNOWLEDGES SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Substantive knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods, and practices.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least three years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or completion of two years secretarial science or business administration program with one year of responsible experience as described above; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Please Note:
