Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED; training in general clerical and computer skills; at least two years of related job experience.
Specialized Requirements: Must complete coursework and obtain certification to facilitate a cognitive behavioral group such as Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT).
Other Qualifications: Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required. Applicants will be subject to complete background investigation including, but not limited to Driving Record and Criminal History checks.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge of accepted office practices and procedures; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent typing skills; effective computer skills; math calculation abilities; good interpersonal skills in order to interact and cooperate with co-workers and deal effectively with defendants, District Attorney's office, court personnel, law enforcement agencies and the general public.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a climate controlled private office in Beaumont, shared office or classroom setting(s) at our main office and satellite office in Port Arthur. Employee may be subject to adverse weather and environmental conditions, physical and safety hazards while working in high crime areas, driving in traffic.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary; duties require reaching, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 10 lbs.; prolonged sitting to work at computer, walking; duties may require occasional to frequent loading, lifting, and carrying of file boxes weighing over 10 lbs.

Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Facilitates a cognitive behavioral group utilized to promote positive lifestyle changes
- Notifies victims of defendant probation placements and serves as a liaison between the supervising officer and the victim for the purpose of sharing correspondence
- Obtains information and compiles folder consisting of a personal data sheet and a criminal history on each defendant who plea bargains for community supervision or penitentiary time
- Records all cases on a monthly log and on a separate log according to sentence date
- Schedules interview date and time for defendant with assigned Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI) Officer
- Prepares completed folder for Community Supervision or a pen packet for the Institutional Division after PSI Officer Interviews defendant and completes a report
- Prepares court orders, including special conditions recommended by Officers for all probation cases
- Sends related paperwork to the Judge(s), District Attorney(s) and defense attorney(s) while retaining copies
- Assigns cases, orders criminal histories and compiles folders, distributing weekly for all cases due for sentencing
- Receives, screens and routes all incoming telephone calls
- Develops, implements, and maintains an organized system of case file storage, retrieval, archiving, and disposal for closed out and inactive case management files
- Testifies in court when required and assists with urinalysis testing as needed
- Work requires regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other job-related duties, as directed.
