Summary: Performs the technical work necessary to assist County Departments with the operation, maintenance and repair of personal computer hardware, software, and associated peripheral equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Will work alongside the full time PC Technicians to assist with responding to work orders. Including troubleshooting problems; install and test hardware and software on a variety of personal computers, laptops and pc tablets; configures settings in Windows Operating Systems and network configuration; troubleshoot problems with computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment as they arise; analyzes and repairs hardware problems with personal computer equipment. Work requires regular and predictable attendance.
Other Job Functions: Performs other job related duties, as directed.

Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED and current enrollment in a university in an Associates Degree in Information Technology; or any combination of training and experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

Knowledge, Skills, &Abilities: Knowledge of: principles and practices of information technology management; applicability of information systems to a variety of work situations and operations; limitations, capabilities, uses, and service requirements of personal computers, a variety of printers, scanners and related equipment; principles and techniques of effective communications and training; and knowledge of various software packages including: Current versions of Windows, Microsoft Office,
Symantec Endpoint, Client Access for Windows, and Windows Remote Assistance; Skill in: analyzing, identifying, and addressing problems with a wide range of off-the-shelf PC software applications; expressing ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Equipment Used: Various computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment; general office equipment as needed.
Work Situations/Demands/Efforts: Work requires organizing; prioritizing; accuracy; attention to detail; working alone and as part of a group; flexibility in order to perform and coordinate a variety of duties and to adapt standard procedures and methods to differing conditions; performing routine, repetitive duties; driving to other county office locations; possible irregular or overtime hours; occasional out-of- town travel to attend educational seminars and conferences.
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily in a climate controlled private office environment. Heavy office traffic may cause distraction and interrupt duties.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary; job duties require walking and driving to other office locations in order to assist computer users; occasional prolonged sitting may be necessary. Duties require moving computer terminals, printers or other objects weighing up to 40 lbs. by lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling.
