Position Overview
Full-Time | Day Shift
Van Zeeland Manufacturing is looking for a Manufacturing Job Planner / Estimator to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for planning and preparing jobs for production, including creating job routings, preparing manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD, reviewing customer requirements, and assisting with estimating and scheduling.
We're looking for someone who is technically minded, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with CAD and manufacturing information.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain job routings for production.
- Review customer drawings, specifications, and CAD files.
- Create manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD, typically based on established industry standards and specifications.
- Modify customer-supplied drawings and maintain drawing revisions.
- Determine appropriate manufacturing processes and sequence of operations.
- Review new and repeat jobs for accuracy and manufacturability.
- Work with production on first-time-run jobs to verify routings, drawings, and setups.
- Assist with job scheduling, inventory planning, and lead times.
- Assist with estimating material, labor, setup, tooling, and outside-service costs.
- Work with Sales, Purchasing, Production, vendors, and customers to resolve manufacturing questions.
- Review previous jobs to improve future routings and estimates.
Qualifications
- Experience or education in manufacturing, CAD, machining, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar 2D CAD software.
- Ability to create, read, interpret, and modify manufacturing drawings.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, dimensions, tolerances, and materials.
- Strong computer, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with both office and production personnel.
- Previous experience with job planning, CAD/drafting, estimating, scheduling, machining, programming, or manufacturing engineering is helpful.
