About the Position
Van Zeeland Manufacturing, Inc. is looking for an HR Generalist to join our team in Little Chute, Wisconsin. This is a hands-on, generalist HR role that plays an important part in supporting our employees and keeping our day-to-day HR operations running smoothly.
The HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee records, benefits administration, attendance and vacation tracking, employee relations, and HR and safety compliance.

What You'll Do
- Handle day-to-day HR functions and employee needs
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
- Support recruiting efforts, including posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks
- Coordinate new hire onboarding, including offer letters, required screenings, paperwork, and orientation
- Coordinate employee termination activities and COBRA administration
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Assist with 401(k) administrative requirements and disclosures
- Manage workers' compensation claims, employee leave, and return-to-work activities
- Manage vacation administration and attendance tracking
- Review and make necessary Time & Attendance adjustments
- Review schedule adherence and reports prior to payroll
- Assist with performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and employee training
- Maintain and update SOP documentation
- Assist with disciplinary documentation
- Answer employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and benefits
- Maintain an open-door approach so employees feel comfortable sharing questions, concerns, and suggestions
- Support employee engagement through communication, events, and recognition programs
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Manage OSHA compliance and support the company safety program and safety committee
- Maintain the company safety manual and safety records
- Complete OSHA reporting, accident documentation, and forklift certification records
- Prepare HR reports, documents, and correspondence
- Provide administrative support to the leadership team
- Assist with other projects as needed
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources
- Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations
- High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player
- Commitment to continuous improvement
- Experience supporting a manufacturing workforce is a plus
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Comfortable navigating basic ERP systems
