What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT/AV Engineer position at Vallum Associates?
Our client, a well-established MEP engineering firm (80 Engineers) working across a diverse portfolio of hotels, residential, high-rise, public sector, stadia, and public realm projects, is building out an in-house IT/AV function for the first time.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the discipline from the ground up within an established, multi-disciplinary engineering practice. These jobs don't come around every day.
Skills/Experience required:
- 5 years of experience in structured cabling / IT infrastructure design, ideally within an AEC, MEP, or specialist ICT consultancy environment
- Strong working knowledge of structured cabling standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA) and pathway/spaces design
- Experienced producing construction documents and specifications for telecommunications and low-voltage infrastructure
- Comfortable working across multiple concurrent projects and sectors
Candidates will be able to be in office 3 to 4 days per week (Midtown, Manhattan), with ability to attend project sites regularly.
Build, don't inherit - genuine opportunity to define how this function operates within an established firm, rather than fitting into someone else's system.
Sector diversity - hospitality, high-rise, public sector, stadia, and public realm work in a single portfolio, rather than a narrow vertical.
In-house stability with project variety - the consistency of an employed role with the breadth typically only found in consultancy.
Growth trajectory - as the function scales, strong potential for this role to grow into a leadership position over the in-house IT/AV discipline.
Salary : $100,000 - $125,000
