Director of Nursing Services (DON)

Valley View Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing (RN) to lead our nursing team in Moberly MO. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive nursing knowledge, and a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulations in long term care including HIPAA and Medicare. This leadership role involves overseeing nursing operations, ensuring high-quality resident care, managing staff, and maintaining compliance with all applicable standards. The Director of Nursing will play a pivotal role in fostering a compassionate environment focused on resident well-being and operational excellence.

Duties

• Lead and supervise nursing staff, including nurse management and shift management to ensure efficient operations across all shifts.
• Develop, review, and update care plans tailored to residents’ needs, utilizing expertise in physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
• Oversee documentation review, medical records management, and ensure accurate and timely data entry within EMR/EHR systems.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate resident care programs.
• Provide leadership in staff training on new policies, procedures, EMR/EHR systems, and regulatory updates.
• Foster a culture of safety, quality improvement, and resident-centered care through effective communication and leadership.
• Collaborate with administrative staff to optimize operational workflows while maintaining high standards of nursing practice.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in nursing administration within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or similar healthcare environments.
• Strong background in nurse management with supervising experience in a healthcare setting such as home health or hospice care.
• Extensive knowledge of Medicare regulations, Care plans development, MDS processes, and documentation review.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and medical records management.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage shift operations effectively.
• In-depth understanding of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams with compassion while ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Strong organizational skills with the capacity to oversee multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
