What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Teacher- Science position at VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL SYSTEM?
Valley Christian Middle School is seeking a full-time Science teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Members of the middle school faculty excel at creative problem solving, working with a diverse student body and engaging in authentic relationships with students. Our desire is to provide transformative learning opportunities for students. Prospective faculty members should be able to design creative learning experiences where students must apply their learning in real-world settings.
At VCMS, we are fully committed to middle school philosophy and meeting each student where they are at developmentally. We strive to educate the whole student: mind, body and spirit. Candidates must be deeply committed to their faith and have a passion for middle school students.
The preferred candidate will:
- Have experience teaching (preferably middle school students)
- Use a wide range of methodology to engage a diverse student population
- Creatively adapt the current curriculum to areas of personal expertise
- Collaborate in a professional learning community
- Design purposeful and engaging lessons
- Also teach an exploratory class of their design or fill in where needed (Robotics, Bible, PE, creative media, healthy living, etc)
- Teach Science courses from a biblical worldview with his/her faith woven through lessons and teaching
A bachelor's degree is required, a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g. Science, Biology, Chemistry, Secondary Education) is preferred. Applicants must profess faith in Jesus Christ and be active members of a local Protestant church (CRC or RCA preferred) community.
For consideration, applicants must be willing to complete a LiveScan/fingerprinting and a drug screen.

Qualifications:
- Education:
- A bachelor's degree is required, a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (e.g. Science, Biology, Chemistry, Secondary Education) is preferred.
- Experience:
- Experience teaching (preferably middle school students)
- Experience or familiarity to be able to teach an exploratory class of their design or fill in where needed (Robotics, Bible, PE, creative media, healthy living, etc)
- Skills & Attributes:
- Familiarity with academic support software, grading platforms, and communication tools (e.g., PowerSchool, Canvas) preferred.
- Must profess faith in Jesus Christ; Active membership/attendance at a Protestant Christian church (CRC or RCA preferred) is required.
