Purpose Statement

Valley Christian Schools is seeking a lower grade (K-3) Elementary School Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Members of the elementary school faculty excel at creative problem solving and working with a diverse student body while fostering a love of God and nurturing each unique child’s gifts.  The Elementary School Teacher is responsible to carry out faithfully all the responsibilities of a Christian teacher as described in the Valley Christian School’s Mission Statement.

Responsibilities

• Provide transformative learning opportunities for students.
• Show a strong knowledge of learning theory, curriculum design, and subject area(s).
• Construct and/or use courses, units, and lessons to integrate knowledge.
• Select materials and lesson designs that specifically carry out the goals derived from VCS’s mission statement.
• Use evaluation instruments that match VCS’s goals and specific objectives, that allow each child to show well what he/she has learned, and that help students meet high expectations for learning.
• Encourage each child’s expression and help students to adopt biblical principles for making choices.
• Provide a classroom atmosphere (displays, warmth, arrangement of furniture, etc.) that fosters Christian community.
• Maintain open communication with parents for help in educating their child.
• Model an exemplary Christian walk in speech and acts

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will:

●     Have experience successfully teaching at the elementary school level

●      Use a wide range of methodology to engage a diverse student population

●      Creatively adapt the current curriculum to areas of personal expertise

●      Collaborate in a professional learning community

●      Design purposeful and engaging lessons

●     Teach courses from a biblical worldview with his/her faith woven through lessons and teaching

A bachelor's degree and a teaching certification or credential is required.  Applicants must profess faith in Jesus Christ and be active members of a local Protestant Christian church community (CRC or RCA denomination preferred).

Salary : $49,352 - $96,945
