Non Profit Accountant

Vaco has a great opportunity for a Non-Profit Accountant to join an organization in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a temp to hire role that sits fully onsite.


Position Summary


This position supports a variety of accounting and administrative functions while ensuring adherence to proper accounting procedures and internal controls. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role assists in maintaining accurate financial records and safeguarding organizational assets.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple accounting processes within a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities



Accounting Operations

• 
  Process cash receipts and investigate discrepancies or inquiries as needed
• 
  Work with internal departments to ensure accurate acknowledgment and documentation of contributions and financial transactions
• 
  Manage accounts receivable processing and maintain account balances
• 
  Maintain appropriate documentation for all financial transactions
  
  

Accounts Payable

• 
  Process accounts payable transactions and follow up with vendors when necessary
• 
  Review incoming invoices for proper coding and approvals
• 
  Verify invoices have not been previously paid before processing
• 
  Match supporting documentation for purchases with vendor invoices
• 
  Code and enter credit card expenses and purchases into the accounting system
• 
  Collect and reconcile receipts with statements
• 
  Ensure expenses are coded accurately according to the chart of accounts and approved budgets
  
  

Financial Reporting & Reconciliation

• 
  Enter journal entries as requested
• 
  Perform monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts (excluding fixed assets and inventory)
• 
  Assist with financial reporting and reconciliation schedules as needed
• 
  Prepare financial reports related to grants and restricted funding
  
  

Operational Support

• 
  Assist with payroll support activities and financial statement preparation
• 
  Support preparation for the annual audit, tax filings, and budgeting processes
• 
  Provide accounting support for organizational initiatives, events, and special projects
• 
  Make process improvement recommendations to the Accounting Manager
• 
  Perform additional administrative or accounting duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications


Required

• 
  Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 
  2-3 years of accounting experience
• 
  Experience with accounts payable and disbursement processing
• 
  Understanding of accounting principles and general ledger transactions
• 
  Experience with accounting systems or ERP software (NetSuite experience preferred)
• 
  Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
