Vaco has partnered with an organization in the specialized manufacturing and hazmat transportation space who is seeking a hands on, operational Human Resources & Compliance Specialist to support its evolving business.
This role is ideal for an HR generalist who enjoys owning day to day HR operations, coordinating compliance activities, and improving processes in a fast paced environment. A meaningful portion of this position is dedicated to DOT driver compliance coordination, making prior experience with Department of Transportation motor carriers or regulated workforces highly desirable.
This is an onsite role based in Fort Collins, CO and requires consistent in person presence to support payroll, compliance workflows, and operational needs.
Responsibilities:
HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle
- Own and facilitate key stages of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee transitions
- Run day to day HR operations with a focus on accuracy, responsiveness, and consistency
- Maintain organized, audit ready personnel files and employee documentation
- Help update, maintain, and enforce HR policies, job descriptions, and standard operating procedures
- Coordinate DOT related compliance processes for drivers in a regulated transportation environment, including:
- Driver Qualification File (DQF) management
- DOT onboarding documentation and qualification tracking
- Drug & Alcohol testing coordination and required compliance workflows
- Ensure internal teams are consistently following required regulatory and safety processes
- Partner with leadership and external experts as needed to remain compliant
- Process payroll and payroll-related changes using Paylocity (in partnership with Accounting)
- Support benefits administration and insurance renewals, including broker/provider coordination
- Maintain HRIS accuracy, data integrity, and reporting
- Support recruiting efforts, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and hiring manager partnership
- Facilitate performance review cycles and assist with merit increase coordination
- Track completion of required training programs and compliance items
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of hands on HR experience in an operational environment (small to mid sized company preferred)
- Experience processing payroll or managing payroll inputs (Paylocity preferred; other systems acceptable)
- Familiarity with DOT compliance processes or experience in a regulated transportation, logistics, or manufacturing setting
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to own processes end to end
- Clear, professional communicator who collaborates effectively with leadership and frontline managers
- Experience supporting DOT regulated motor carriers or hazmat operations
- Exposure to safety consortiums or C/TPAs (e.g., DISA or similar)
- Experience working in an environment with evolving or newly built HR policies and SOPs
- Understanding of multi state employment practices

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:
· the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
· licensure and certification requirements;
· office location and other geographic considerations; and
· other business and organizational needs.
With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and/or participation in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's retirement plan (or similar retirement benefits).
Salary : $90,000 - $115,000
