Position: Assistant Controller

Location: Raleigh area (Hybrid - 3 days per week in-office)

About the Role

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join a growing organization in the Raleigh area. The position involves corporate accounting responsibilities with exposure to project accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of general ledger and bank accounts.
• Process, review, and reconcile payroll data, including deductions and contributions.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities with supporting documentation.
• Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
• Support annual external audit and prepare required schedules.
• Enhance and maintain internal controls and compliance processes.
• Analyze and report cost variances; assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Act as subject matter expert for the ERP system and drive process improvements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure accurate financial processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 5 years of professional accounting experience; project accounting experience preferred.
• CPA or CMA designation preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience with payroll processing and ERP systems (Deltek Vantagepoint and ADP preferred).
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
